Like a slow slurry poured without a cast
Sunlight creeps back into the night to day
Without awakening me from shadow
So that I feel so dark despite its compass.

You are my pain, or maybe it is me
Failing to acknowledge it is over:
Lost! This love that never was intended.
We never could have been and never won.

This slurry pours my heart out into rock,
The kind that makes a grave of common souls.
I am, like every other decent man,
Just waiting for that day you call my name,

Knowing it is from ashes and from dust
A trumpet millennial only angels know
Along with that few group, the righteous dead,
Along with me, I hope to hear your voice:

“Well done Beloved Servant. Sit by Me
On the better side of this eternity.”
